BBC Radio 4 use DSLRs for Video

BBC Radio 4 FM & LW LogoSteve Bowbrick, blogs editor at BBC Audio & Music (the part of the BBC predominantly responsible for radio), has just posted an interesting article about BBC Radio 4 comedians on the red button at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Why is it interesting? Well it turns out that (apart from one high end Red Cam) the coverage was shot entirely on 7 DSLR cameras.

DSLR cameras being used for mainstream high-rating TV shows is not new of course, hit US medical drama House made headlines earlier this year when it emerged that the season finale was shot nearly entirely on Canon EOS 5D MkII DSLRs, but this is the first we’ve heard of the BBC using DSLR cameras for broadcast video.
