So we’re pretty sure it IS coming, but the question is when. We’re talking a new entry-level Canon DSLR, probably called the EOS 2000D. Canon’s EOS 1000D revitalised the entry-level DSLR market when it hit the shelves over 2 years ago, but recent new rivals like the Nikon D3100 are packing in more features at this end of the market.
Don’t get me wrong, the 1000D is a great first DSLR and is more than capable of taking great photos, but it’s starting to show it’s age in a world of HD Video and in-camera guide modes.
So is the Canon EOS 2000D just around the corner? A couple of people are making noises about a possible Canon DSLR announcement before the Photokina trade show next week. We’ve been stung with false hopes of this camera surfacing before, and certainly wont be putting any money on it doing so in the next week, but if the 2000D (or similar level EOS DSLR) isn’t announced in time for Christmas we’ll be surprised.
